Lino printing as a starting point

Images from the residency studio.

Working with lino... but breaking the rules in order to interpret the seed capsule cross-sections in a somewhat painterly way.

Rushing off to an appointment I willpop back and add more details later.

Identifying species I collect is always interesting. The Cooper book on Rainforest fruits of Australia is a huge help.

another cross section...

    1. Funny how we worry we are not doing enough Robyn.
Thats been me at the moment! Thrown out of routine, riding bike to shops for supplies in one direction, biking to cafe on another route for wifi, running out to purchase a new little camera that takes macro shots... with all the coming and going it can feel like the studio is not getting attention .... so thanks for reminding me of a process unfolding. Love blogging for bring the central things into focus... and love my bloggy friends.
Adore your prayer flags Robyn... may many be inspired from you passing this on to others!

    1. Thanks lovely Mary.
Have been out of touch and wondering how you are travelling!
As I was saying to Robyn ... we know how the journey can be trying out new ideas... and working in isolation adds to the wondering. I feel so much more ready to tackle the lino today after you all visiting with positive remarks.
Made a few new designs last night... am now working between studio spaces - inside the house and downstairs for larger works that ned some tinkering. Unpacked paintings from Brisbane yesterday to show curator Chris and, sigh of relief, he was happy with work. Am enjoying his ideas and energy very much. He suggested the printmaking and has really been a gift in the process up here.
      Go well you!

    1. thank you Annamaria!
I'm working in an A4 size Moleskin journal and a slightly bigger Japanese watercolour paper journal. I guess you could say my approach is very unorthodox... I like the book format even though its a slow way to work waiting for pages to dry!

About Me

My Photo
Blogging for me is an extension of keeping a journal which I have done in various forms over the decades. The difference being this is not a closed book! I like that it offers an opportunity to explore that which concerns me as an artist and as an individual about living and participating in this vastly complex, unquestionably exciting yet unnerving time in human history. Through the blog I hope to increase the possibilties for cross-pollination which I believe can strengthen the sense of being part of something both personal and universal that is vital, expansive and refreshing.
