the one constant...

Today the rain is pouring down and I hear floods are happening to the south. Where I grew up on a beautiful river valley we would remember the years often by the floods!

Then I never lived near flooding rivers... for decades it seemed. Having returned to the part of the country that is not so very far from  those childhood years... floods are once again more likely. I'm sitting contemplating what time to head to the Gallery today to slowly dismount the show and outside there is wind and rain in constant gusts! Rain is heavy out there!

Last night I found, after weeks of being so focused on the latest exhibition, I was starting to remember what's next. Moving house is looming large again. Suddenly caught in a bit of excitement I began to imagine my new home... straying far from the likely scenario. In part its simply because the range of domestic buildings in this city where I live are not so like my dream domestic environment ... and partly because when one dreams one does not need to fund one's desires.

So what does a girl do ... she starts a new tumblr blog... calls it when.we.are.home because everything else is taken and then spends a while clicking here and there to find some pics of appealing domesticity!

While picking templates she thinks...oh... I'll just give the neglected studio tumblr blog a facelift with a new template... so da..de..dah ...its looking far more spiffy indeed.

SO... now back to the real world I have to think about getting moving for the day... onwards... much to do!

Some pics from here and there!

No plans to live in a tent... too wet around here... but this looks appealing... from  tenuedenimes

Percolator Gallery Exhibition

Just opened on Wednesday... its certainly been a very busy time!

Exhibition details are on the website  home page ...  and now, at a blog page created for news updates , you'll find more images.

Naming works took quite some time!

This will give some idea of the spaces of the gallery.

These were taken when still setting up.

Opening night was a great pleasure. Wonderful conversations!

No images were taken that night ... too busy talking!

It was enjoyable working with different scales.

And different formats.

Working on unstretched, unframed fabric was a highlight... allowing for a certain feeling of breaking out of old paradigms somehow!

If you are in Brisbane between now and the 24th of February then do call in... check the website for opening hours and days to be sure the Gallery is open and note the two dialogue events next week!

Cheerio,

LATEST E-NEWS JUST OUT!

Its been one of those hugely busy weekends at the computer. Mmmm.. so thought I'd be in the studio!
I'd planned to be there but if you decide to have a show then as I'm sure you know only too well, you have to take care of promo and tell people it's on.

Mail chimp is what I use for E-newsletter 'campaigns' ...  I drool over what some do with the templates ... like this and this one for missy higgins. Simple yet most appealling !!  All the while I plod along correcting and altering this and that. At a certain point I think ... "oh... I'm nearly there!' That's when I find spelling mistakes galore and ridiculous sentences that make no sense. Can I write a convoluted sentence? At the time of writing I see things quite differently. If I dont edit till its halfway decent then I am in danger of offending for sure!

Read the bulletin here:  News+Art Show invite: Feb@Paddington

The other thing you can do is pop over to the website... the home page reads like a blog with info about the upcoming events... including links to the presenter's networks and profiles.

Eric Jackson 'LIKED' the page on behalf of The Gardens of Old Salem FB Page where he works in their horticultural Dept. So much history... they are doing a huge amount towards seed conservation at their Gardens in North Carolina

I've plonked links to other E-newsletters here... a sense of achievement seeing them together... and a nice little archive. Probably there are missing links and images... have yet to check back!

February Exhibition + Biodiversity Dialogue Events in Paddington, Brisbane

Recently I've been quite preoccupied with arrangements and studio time in preparation for this upcoming exhibition in
Paddington, Brisbane.

With my studio underneath Percolator Gallery in Paddington its a pleasure to be planning a show for the upstairs
Gallery... due to open in 2 weeks time ... from Feb 13th to 24th. Opening night kicks off at 6pm, Thursday, 14th
of February. Today I've finished lining up all the presenters for the two dialogue evenings and have posted on the
website where I will add updates and more info re speakers.

ALSO watch the Homage to the Seed Facebook Page for updates over the next few weeks. If you want to make
an outing of it and cant make the evening events note that the daytime cafes nearby are wonderful and I am keen
to have you come visit and share a coffee from across the road or make cups of tea in the gallery!

Being in the gallery from midday to 5 pm over ten days is a prime opportunity for cups of tea and good conversation.
Even if we haven't met come and introduce yourself... galleries are perfect places for connection and conviviality!

About Me

My photo
Blogging for me is an extension of keeping a journal which I have done in various forms over the decades. The difference being this is not a closed book! I like that it offers an opportunity to explore that which concerns me as an artist and as an individual about living and participating in this vastly complex, unquestionably exciting yet unnerving time in human history. Through the blog I hope to increase the possibilties for cross-pollination which I believe can strengthen the sense of being part of something both personal and universal that is vital, expansive and refreshing.
