Percolator Gallery Exhibition

Just opened on Wednesday... its certainly been a very busy time!

Exhibition details are on the website  home page ...  and now, at a blog page created for news updates , you'll find more images.

Naming works took quite some time!

This will give some idea of the spaces of the gallery.

These were taken when still setting up.

Opening night was a great pleasure. Wonderful conversations!

No images were taken that night ... too busy talking!

It was enjoyable working with different scales.

And different formats.

Working on unstretched, unframed fabric was a highlight... allowing for a certain feeling of breaking out of old paradigms somehow!

If you are in Brisbane between now and the 24th of February then do call in... check the website for opening hours and days to be sure the Gallery is open and note the two dialogue events next week!

Cheerio,
S

    1. Funny you say that Valerianna ... its does seem to be feeling fresh and bursting is the case! The Cairns Residency last Sept/Oct was very nuturing and consolidating ... this is the flow on I think of that very fine experience...
Friends have been commenting that something has gelled ... even my brother who see my stuff often said something had happened seeing this all up.
Have been making art since I was four...I'd like to think at 54 I was finally relaxing into something that felt I was 'at home'. THank you!

  7. I'm usually not one for acronyms but.. OMG Sophie it's really stunning! There is such depth, vibrancy and story in each piece. I absolutely love the large one (second photo) and also the roundies - they look like cells under a microscope. I so wish I could be there in that space and wander around looking at all the nuances, texture, pattern, story and colour. I'm sure I'd get lost in it all. What an absolute riot of pure Sophie-ness!!! I wish I could have a cuppa with you - there's so much I'd love to learn from you and chat about - be your underling for a month or something!!! Best of luck with the exhibition Sophie - Bravo!

    1. Hello Donna...
thanks for your truly wonderful comments. It would be so wonderful to have you all here as an audience to bounce off. I kind of like that "absolute riot of pure Sophie-ness' you came up with... something in that picks up on the fact there is a thing in my dna that rather loves to fill whole spaces with something living... animating space is a bit of my thing... For years I created my living spaces in this manner... now it all goes into the art pieces. I guess you are seeing my very own sense of living habitat installed for a couple of weeks!
thanks for being a great receiver of that muchness...

and all of the visitors here... Much appreciated!

Blogging for me is an extension of keeping a journal which I have done in various forms over the decades. The difference being this is not a closed book! I like that it offers an opportunity to explore that which concerns me as an artist and as an individual about living and participating in this vastly complex, unquestionably exciting yet unnerving time in human history. Through the blog I hope to increase the possibilties for cross-pollination which I believe can strengthen the sense of being part of something both personal and universal that is vital, expansive and refreshing.
